Background
Fiberight has developed a process for the enzyme hydrolysis of MSW-derived lignocellulose pulp (from paper and card present in the mixed waste stream). The mass composition of the post-reaction product is approximately: 8-10% soluble sugars, 9-10% unreacted solids, the remainder being water, enzymes, low molecular weight organics, trace quantities of a biocide (benzoisothiozolinone) and salts.
Our Response
A site team was assembled to visit Fiberight Swansea facility to review the current processing capability and then to calculate the necessary requirements for the expansion.
1.Kick-Off
2.Design
3.HAZID
4.Complete HAZID study actions.
5.Compile report and costings with scaling function for the 180,000 tonnes per annum plant.
Requirement
HFL has been requested to provide a FEED study and + 30% cost breakdown for one plant (180,000 tonnes per annum) along with a method to realistically estimate operational costs.
Result
Fiberight was able to review the FEED and costings and prepare its expansion business case for its shareholders and investors.
“We’ve known Haden Freeman for over ten years and have worked on several successful project together”. The FEED and upscaling exercise has enabled us to consider the next steps of our development with surety.”
