Background
Cognis is a leading producer of naphthalene sulfonate products used as dispersants in the concrete admixture, gypsum, oilfield, ceramics and polymerisation industries. Cognis currently manufacturesover 300 products for a broad customer base of more than 1,000 and boasts animpressive list of leadership positions.
Requirement
Cognis requested HFL to undertake a site widestructural survey. This enabled Cognis to assess the current condition of plantsteelwork and structures and determine the extent of any required modernisationand reparation works a DSEAR and EPD Gap Analysis on several manufacturingprocesses.
Our Response
HFL provided qualified structural engineersto undertake the study.
A complete site survey of all plantstructures and steelwork was undertaken and a report produced.
The report identified any issues and prioritisedthe remedial requirements.
Necessary modifications were then designedand project managed by HFL.
Result
Cognis has the confidence that its steelworkand structures are in good repair.
Several new projects which require items ofequipment to be sited on platforms etc. have now progressed satisfactorily.
